Services We Offer

Prophylaxis (Cleaning)

Cleanings are done by one of our dental hygienists and consists of a physical and oral cancer exam, removal of plaque and tartar, polishing, flossing and rinsing. You may also have fluoride and X-rays done during your cleaning.

Fluoride

Fluoride is a mineral that occurs naturally in many foods and water. Fluoride helps prevent tooth decay by making the tooth more resistant to acid attacks from plaque bacteria and sugars in the mouth. It also reverses early decay. In children under 6 years of age, fluoride becomes incorporated into the development of permanent teeth, making it difficult for acids to demineralize the teeth.

Periodontics (Gum Treatment)

Bacteria in your mouth form a sticky film, known as plaque, on the teeth and gums. If not removed, this hardens into a crust (tartar). The bacteria in plaque and tartar can cause periodontal disease. This can lead to pain, gum damage, bone loss, and even tooth loss. Gum treatments (Scaling and Root Planing) is a special type of cleaning done by a hygienist. This cleaning removes plaque and tartar from beneath the gums and helps to restore health to your teeth and gums.

Crown (cap)/ Bridgework

A crown is a cover or “cap” that the dentist can put over your tooth. The crown restores the tooth to its normal shape, size, and function and can even make your tooth stronger. A bridge is a way to replace one or more missing teeth. Replacing missing teeth makes it easier to chew, can improve your appearance, and can keep teeth, gums, and jaws healthy. You may need bridgework done if you have spaces in-between your teeth so as to keep your other teeth from shifting.

extractions

Extractions are generally done when there is severe crowding, protrusion or a bad bite. Dr. Diamond performs extractions on teeth above the gun line.

Sealants

Sealants are a safe, painless, and low cost way to help protect your child’s back teeth from decay. A thin, plastic, tooth-colored or clear coating (sealants) is bonded to the chewing surfaces of the molars and premolars. This forms a hard shield that keeps food and bacteria from getting into the tiny grooves in the teeth and causing decay. Sealants can last for three to five years.

Fillings

A material that replaces missing tooth structure whether it be from a fracture, decay, or abrasion. A filling is typically one of two different materials: tooth colored (composite), or metal (amalgam).

Occlusal guards (night guards)

More than fifteen percent of people have a habit of grinding their teeth or clenching their jaws, a condition called bruxism. When bruxism is serious enough to damage the teeth or cause jaw or facial pain, we can fit you with a custom made occlusal guard that can be worn at night.

Nothing can take the place of a healthy set of natural teeth. But when disease or an accident ends in tooth loss, it’s good to know that there are definitely options for restoring your smile. Implants are a popular and effective way to replace missing teeth. The development and use of implants have been one of the biggest advances in dentistry in the past 40 years.
